VISTA DEL CAMINO HOLIDAY DRIVE
Happy Holidays to everyone,
In the past, the Phoenix Chapter had obtained Salvation Army Christmas
Angels for our holiday community service event. This year when Ken contacted the Salvation Army, he was told that they
had already distributed their quota of Angels for this season. So instead of the Angels this year, our Chapter will
be collecting toys, gifts, clothing, food, etc for Vista Del Camino, (please see the attached flyer). We will be collecting
the donations at our Holiday Social/Audio Conference on December 10.
I hope you can attend the December meeting, we are planning on a special
lunch prepared by our caterer Lisa, as well as raffle prizes, in addition to the audio conference providing 2 CPE’s.
The Phoenix Chapter will also donate $5 to a local charity for everyone who attends the December meeting. If you are
not able to attend, but would like to contribute something to Vista Del Camino, please just contact me or any of the Board
members and we will arrange to have it picked up. Your kindness and generosity can certainly make a difference in someone’s
life.
I hope to see you there!

PS – Did you know the term, Black Friday,
given to the day after Thanksgiving, the busiest shopping day of the year, dates back to the 1960’s and was derived
from the old accounting practice of using red ink for debts and black ink for profits? A little Thanksgiving/accounting
trivia for you…..
Prior Program Years' Community Service Events
DECEMBER 2007
Happy Holidays to
everyone.
Big thanks for the
help with the Christmas Angels from the Salvation Army. We asked for and were given 15 individuals and everyone gotten taken
without too much arm twisting from me.
Now if we can have as much participation in the VITA program I would be thrilled. Make sure you register
and do the classes either on line or at a site. The attached link will get you to registration. Remember there is CPE for
the classes and it’s free. One can commit for as many Saturday mornings as they want and do simple or complex returns
depending on the level one is comfortable with. There is a quality control and a tax person on site to help and make sure
returns are done properly. You will also learn the nuances for this year’s return and enhance your knowledge so your
own returns will be easier to do. (http://www.tempe.gov/tcc/taxhelp/)
