The 2016 scholarship recipient is Rebeca Ann Gutierrez from Phoenix, Arizona. She is a senior at Arizona State
University with major in Accounting. She has a GPA of 3.83 and expects to graduate in May of 2016. Rebeca be-
lieves that governmental accountants have a positive impact on the society by efficient management of public re-
sources. She is interested in a career in Public Financial Management because of “the opportunity to make a differ-
ence for my generation and for those that follow”. Rebeca is, also, a Mock Trial Assistant Coach in Metro Tech High School. Congratulations Rebeca!
Congratulations to Jessica Straw on winning the AGA 2013-2014 scholarship! As the recipient of this scholarship, Jessica will receive $1,000 to be used for student educational expenses. She is currently a student at Golden Gate University of San Francisco, and has entered her third year of the campus cyber program working towards a goal of obtaining her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business, with a concentration in Accounting. She has a goal of obtain-ing her CPA license after completing the undergraduate program.
Jessica is currently working in government accounting at the Department of Administration, General Services Divi-sion, where she prepares financial statements for the Fleet division. Before coming to Arizona, she worked as a pay-roll assistant for a non-profit home, health and hospice provider, and before that as an accounts receivable and paya-ble clerk at a software company in the state of California.
